Supervised care, delivered at home

Sword is an SNS-accessible physiotherapy option for patients with musculoskeletal conditions.

    Dedicated physiotherapist

    Each patient is assigned a dedicated physiotherapist who supervises the programme from start to finish, reviews progress between sessions, and adjusts the plan as the patient recovers.

    Personalised programmes

    The physiotherapist builds an individualised exercise plan at the outset and updates it as the patient progresses. Any questions along the way go directly to them.

Prescribe 1552.2 under Área G - Medicina Física e de Reabilitação. One unit per prescription. Use 1553.2 for subsequent programmes.

The patient starts in days

The patient submits the prescription, completes an assessment call with their physiotherapist, and receives the Sword kit at home. Guided sessions begin within days.

The programme begins

Unlimited sessions are supervised by a physiotherapist under a physiatrist-led team. A report on the patient's baseline findings, outcomes, and progress is available at programme end.

Use code 1552.2 for a patient's initial programme and 1553.2 when prescribing a subsequent programme for a different body area within the same 12-month period.

    Enter code 1552.2 or 1553.2 directly.

Open the "Meios Complementares de Diagnóstico e Terapêutica" tab. Under "Pesquisar MCDT," you can search in two ways:

    By MCDT

    Enter the code (1552.2 or 1553.2) or the programme name ("Telerreabilitação - Programa inicial de tratamento" or "Telerreabilitação - Programas subsequentes de tratamento").

  • B
    By area

    Select "Área G - Medicina Física e de Reabilitação" as the área and "Telerreabilitação" as the group. Both codes appear together.

Identifying the right patients

Sword is designed for progressive, exercise-based physiotherapy from home. Your judgement in the consultation is the starting point and Sword's onboarding call confirms fit before the programme begins. Patients who aren't a good match are identified and directed appropriately.

When Sword fits:

  • Have a musculoskeletal condition appropriate for progressive, exercise-based rehabilitation

  • Would benefit from faster access to physiotherapy

  • Can participate safely from home

  • Need structure, accountability, and ongoing clinical guidance

  • Can use a smartphone or tablet, or have light support from a family member or caregiver

When it may not:

  • Need urgent evaluation or have clinical red flags

  • Have rapidly worsening symptoms

  • Require hands-on care as the primary intervention

  • Cannot safely exercise at home

  • Are unable to engage with a digital programme, even with support
