Racial and Ethnic Differences in Outcomes of a 12-Week Digital Rehabilitation Program for MSK Pain: Prospective Longitudinal Cohort Study

Clinical Study: Digital vs conventional physiotherapy for chronic shoulder pain

Study Overview

This study demonstrates that a digital physical therapy program can improve accessibility and pain management for musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions across all racial and ethnic groups. Sword Health's member base has a racial/ethnic distribution similar to that of the U.S. population. With this study, Sword is able to show evidence of our ability to promote equity in healthcare because significant improvement was attained within populations normally reported as higher risk, namely Black and Hispanic patients. This is the first study of its kind evaluating racial/ethnic differences in a completely remote, digital care program for MSK pain.
