The next chapter for Sword Mind: Proactive, 24/7 mental health care, now expanding into a full EAP
Mind is the world’s first EAP designed to replace reactive mental health referrals with continuous, intelligent care.

Exploring the breakthroughs behind AI Care
The U.S. is spending more on mental health care than ever. More people are in treatment than at any point in history. And yet depression and anxiety rates remain higher than they were before the pandemic.
More access. More spending. Worse outcomes. That’s not a funding problem. It’s a structural problem.
The current approach to mental health care is still built around a single interaction: a scheduled appointment, typically 45 minutes long, once a week, sometimes once every two weeks.
But mental health doesn’t operate on a schedule.
Anxiety doesn’t appear only on Tuesdays at 3pm.
Insomnia doesn’t wait for the next available session.
Stress doesn’t pause until the next appointment.
Difficult moments rarely arrive in neat weekly intervals.
Life happens continuously. Care has historically been episodic. But between appointments, most people are left on their own - managing the complexity of daily life without guidance, context, or continuity.
Weekly sessions can be valuable. But they were never designed to carry the full burden of mental health support alone.
We need a fundamentally different approach. One where care isn’t something you access periodically. It’s something that supports you continuously.
That is the next chapter for Mind.
We stripped every button, slider, and pop-up from the interface. What remains is a continuous three-way conversation between the member, their psychologist, and Phoenix, our AI Care Specialist. Simple by design. Fundamentally more effective.
The psychologist leads the care. Phoenix extends it into everyday life - delivering clinically guided support 24/7, in the moments that actually matter.
Members no longer have to wait for the next appointment to reflect on a difficult conversation, manage a spike in anxiety, or work through a moment of uncertainty. Support exists in real time, informed by the full context of the member’s history, goals, and patterns.
When deeper human care is needed, the psychologist steps in immediately with full context. No repetition. No restarting. No member left alone in a difficult moment.
Care no longer resets every week. It evolves continuously.
Continuous care, guided by clinical memory
At the center of Mind is a three-way conversation between the member, Phoenix (our AI Care Specialist), and a licensed psychologist. Rather than navigating multiple portals, hotlines, or vendors, support unfolds within a single ongoing conversation.

Traditional systems start over at each appointment. Mind learns over time.
Phoenix builds a dynamic clinical memory that captures context across interactions - goals, symptoms, life events, behavioral patterns, and progress. Each interaction contributes to a continuously evolving understanding of the member.
Signals from conversations, behavioral engagement, calendar context, and wearable data help identify patterns that would otherwise remain invisible between sessions.

Care compounds rather than resets.
Over time, Phoenix learns not only what a member is experiencing, but what actually helps them improve. It learns when to check in, when to challenge patterns, and when to escalate to the clinician.
Two members may present with similar symptoms, but their care evolves in entirely different ways based on what proves effective for each individual.
Each member’s licensed psychologist remains actively involved throughout - reviewing insights, validating patterns, and adjusting care plans as needs evolve.
This is the difference between episodic care and continuous care.
Between waiting for the next appointment and receiving support in the moment it matters.

Purpose-built AI for mental health
Phoenix isn't a general-purpose AI adapted for mental health. It's a proprietary model built by Sword's Frontier AI Lab, shaped by hundreds of hours of input from licensed clinical psychologists. The result is a system that understands the nuance and language of mental health conversations. And when human judgment matters, clinicians step in.
Within that model, we embedded clinical safeguards to maximize safety. These safeguards form the foundation of MindGuard, our AI safety framework for mental health support, which we have publicly released and fully open-sourced to promote transparency and industry collaboration. Learn more about MindGuard here.
MindGuard helps ensure that AI-supported conversations remain clinically appropriate, identify situations that may require escalation, and maintain the balance between supportive dialogue and responsible intervention.
Expanding Mind into a complete EAP solution
Mental health does not exist in isolation. Financial stress, workplace challenges, legal concerns, family pressures, and major life transitions all influence well-being.
Traditional systems separate these needs across different vendors, portals, and disconnected experiences.
We realized the separation itself was part of the problem.
We are expanding Mind into a complete EAP solution - bringing mental health support, financial counseling, legal support, manager coaching, work-life resources, and 24/7 crisis intervention into the same continuous conversation.
One platform.
One conversation.
One clinical memory that holds the full picture.

A member navigating financial stress can receive guidance within the same conversation that already understands their broader context. Phoenix can recommend resources proactively, coordinate referrals, and ensure the psychologist maintains visibility into the member’s evolving situation.
The need changes. The experience does not.
Mental health support should not depend on waiting for the next appointment. Not a weekly session you hope is enough. Continuous support that meets you where you are, when you need it.
This is what mental health care should look like. Continuous. Personalized. Proactive.
