Sword Health and Greek Government Partner to Deliver One of Europe’s First National Healthcare Transformation Initiatives Using AI

Exploring the breakthroughs behind AI Care
The Greek Government and Sword Health announce a national partnership to build one of Europe’s first AI driven front doors to healthcare, serving more than 10 million citizens. This initiative positions Greece among the first countries to deploy this type of system at national scale.
The collaboration begins with strengthening the country’s new National Health Information Line (1566). This service is the first point of contact for millions of citizens seeking help navigating care. By integrating AI into its triage and coordination processes, the Ministry of Health aims to expand capacity, improve response times, and ensure more consistent support across the country. This will also create resilience during periods of surging demand.
This work will be led by Sword Intelligence, our AI Care Management division. After demonstrating its impact within Sword’s own care operations, this marks its first deployment at a national level.
The technology is designed to work alongside the professionals who operate these lines, reducing routine workload and managing high volume tasks. By absorbing fluctuations in demand and directing citizens more efficiently to the right services, it increases the capacity of frontline teams. Starting with this key entry point, Greece is laying the foundation for a national AI enabled system that shortens wait times, reduces pressure on hospitals, improves access to care, and gives leaders real time visibility into emerging needs.
This is a bold and visionary step for the Greek government and for Europe. By combining AI's transformative power with human empathy, Greece is pioneering a new model of care that expands access, relieves pressure on providers, and demonstrates how technology can truly serve humanity.
Said Virgilio Bento, founder and CEO of Sword Health.
We believe Sword Health can help us rise to this challenge. This partnership will rebuild how care flows through our system, making it faster, clearer, and more centred on people.
Said Adonis Georgiadis, Greece’s Minister of Health.
This collaboration positions Greece and Sword to set a new reference model in Europe for how AI can strengthen public health systems and improve national service delivery.
