Exploring the breakthroughs behind AI Care

From day one at Sword, we’ve believed that technology and AI would power the future of care, and that innovation would safeguard it. That’s why we’ve made significant, sustained investments in intellectual property, ensuring that every breakthrough we bring to our members stands on a strong, defensible, and scientifically-validated foundation.
To date, we’ve filed patents for 44 distinct inventions, with a portfolio of 80 patents and patent applications across the U.S. and international jurisdictions. Since receiving our first granted patent in 2021 - one that focused on a method and device for synchronizing data from data sensors monitoring body motion of a patient - we’ve been awarded more than 30 additional patents, reflecting the depth and maturity of our R&D efforts.
Our IP portfolio spans the full breadth of our AI Care platform: from advanced motion tracking technologies that combine wearable sensors and computer vision, to AI-driven movement analysis, digital clinician guidance, and personalized care delivery models that continuously adapt to each member’s needs.
This month, we are proud to have achieved another major IP milestone; one that strengthens the foundation of our AI Care platform and recognizes the world-class innovation behind our products. We have been granted three new U.S. patents in artificial intelligence. Let’s dive into them:
- U.S. Patent No. 12,397,198 B1 - “Personalized Communications in a Digital Therapy Platform”. This patent protects Sword’s AI technology that enables Phoenix, our AI Care Specialist, to deliver live, personalized, and context-aware messages during therapy sessions. By analyzing program goals, progress, and challenges, this system generates real-time feedback, encouragement, and guidance that keep members motivated and engaged throughout their journey.
- U.S. Patent No. 12,456,553 B1 - “Personalized Recommendations in a Digital Therapy Platform”. This patent protects Sword’s engine that powers intelligent message generation and personalized care communication, helping clinicians communicate with members at scale.
- U.S. Patent No. 12,456,204 B1- “Computer Vision-Driven Interactive Full-Body Motion Tracking” - Protecting Sword’s Thrive Pad. It covers a portable computing device and system focused on full body motion tracking with real-time feedback.

These patents aren’t just about protecting innovation: they’re a reflection of our DNA as inventors and builders. They showcase Sword’s leadership not only as a means to an end - delivering world-class healthcare to people - but as the architect of a new healthcare system. One designed to eliminate the inefficiencies of the traditional model, where millions go untreated or receive overly invasive interventions that timely, expert support could have prevented.

Each patent represents a building block in our mission: to deliver expert-level guidance anywhere, empower clinicians to reach more people, and help millions live free from pain.
These granted U.S. patents represent a significant validation of the novelty and impact of Sword’s AI technology in care delivery, and stand as a testament to the daily dedication of our teams. Each patent safeguards a key layer of our AI Care platform, from real-time motion tracking and communication to intelligent clinical decision support, ensuring our solutions remain both clinically rigorous and scalable.
