Career at Sword
As CTO at Sword Health, Jorge oversees Engineering, Infrastructure, Security, Data, and Internal AI. He directs R&D and high-scale AI inference infrastructure purpose-built for healthcare ensuring every innovation is underpinned by gold-standard security and strict compliance across HIPAA, HITRUST, and SOC 2 frameworks.
He spearheads initiatives that leverage generative AI and language technologies to streamline clinical workflows, personalize care at scale, and drive member engagement well beyond traditional healthcare models. Concurrently, he leads Sword’s internal AI strategy to maximize employee productivity and achieve significant operational cost efficiencies.
Education
Grounded in low-level programming and network architecture, Jorge spent three years studying Computer and Network Security at the University of Essex. Driven by a preference for building real-world systems, he opted out of his final academic year to launch directly into software engineering, accelerating his trajectory toward executive technology management.
Experience
Prior to joining Sword Health, Jorge served as CTO at Jumia for over four years, where he led technology across their Food Delivery, Hotel Booking, and Flight Booking divisions and helped guide the company through its IPO.
Today, Jorge heads Sword’s engineering, infrastructure, security, and internal AI. His focus is twofold: leveraging AI to enhance the product experience for members and driving AI adoption to streamline internal workflows for Sword employees.
